How do I change the air filer in a Citroen Saxo diesel?

Q) I have a citroen saxo diesel and want to change the air filter as I never got round to it last year when the oil was done. Normally I'm pretty good at this sort of stuff but on this occasion I can;t for the life of me find where the air filter box is. Would be grateful if someone could tell me where it is and how to open it up to swap the filter over. Thanks

A) Follow the inlet air piping from the cylinder head (on the engine block) back away from the engine. 4 individual pipes will converge into a manifold. Keep going and the manifold will lead to the air filter. Usually 6*12 inches (ish!) with the 2 halves held together with either screws or clips for easy removal. Do you have the new filter to hand? See if there are any plastic parts that would contain something of those dimensions. Q) Where is the boost compensator and what does it look like on a peugeot citroen XUD9TE 1.9TD engine with bosch pump? Mine is in a Citroen Dispatch van so some stuff might be in different places to the cars. Note: the intercooler is front mounted, unlike the cars.

A) The boost compensator unit can be recognised by a brass coloured diaphragm assembly connected to the intercooler by a vacuum hose.

Q) My Dad has just bought an old L plate Citroen, unfortunately the cassette radio is locked at the moment possibly due to someone disconnecting the battery. Just wondering if anyone knows any universal codes, or if there is anywhere on the Internet that offers them for free. Also a little advise on how to enter the code would be good. Citroen air conditioning treatment - what is in it , how do I get rid of the smell?

Q) Today a citroen garage regassed my air con on my picasso and spilt what I think is air conditioning treatment all over the dashboard and central console. The car stinks of chemicals, are these harmful to breathe in and how do I get rid of the smell. Citroen have been of little help.

A) The refrigerant inlet and outlet valves should be under the bonnet and are connected by airtight connections to a sealed machine which changes your refrigerant, therefore I would think that the smell is not refrigerent (ammonia smell), unless your heat exchanger is leaking (why did you need it regassing)? If so take it back to the shop for diagnosis ASAP as at best you may damage your AC compressor and at worst you may be made quite ill by the fumes in such an enclosed space. Drive with your window down until you get there. Often, corrosion pinholes in the pipework don't become apparent / leak, until the system is repressurised.

Q) Im looking to hire a large estate car, my hire company has offered me the only type of estate car they have which is a citroen xsara diesel estate, has anyone been in one of these and know if it is a good large space in the back as I need to lug some boxes around in it?

A) Plenty big enough. Fold the seats down and you have even more space.

what is the plastic underneath a headlight on a citroen saxo called?

Q) i have a citroen saxo forte 2001, there is a curved strip of plastic that sits underneath the headlight. this part has broken and i am looking for a new part online but am having no luck as i have no idea what its called.

Does anyone know how to remove the radio on a Citroen AX?

Q) I've bought a new radio to put in my car, and am having trouble getting the old radio out. There doesn't appear to be anything I can use to pull it out. The car is a Citroen Ax 1.0L Spree - 1995 model. Any help you can give would be much appreciated.

How do I reset the service indicator on my Citroen C3?

Q) My 2007 Citroen C3 Exclusive has just had its first service, however, the dealer has forgotten to reset the indicator. Can I do it? Thanks.

A) Try pushing the button on the instrument panel if there are 2 press one and hold it in while turning on ignition keep it in and you should get a count down from 10 then it should be reset. if not try the other button. It's the button by the fuel guage under the indicator light for sure.
