A) it may be the fuel filter or the fuel pump.
other possiblity may be oil being drawn up through the air intake system due to blocked dampening filter. does the missfire clear up after running for a period of time?can any one help looking for ldv?Q) I am looking for window wiper motor for an LDV convoy Do you know of anyone breaking a van or somewhere i can get one, Van is a LDV 400 convoy 1999 Thanks

A) Look in local papers, check traders who deal in that make.
If secondhand check van auctions, great deals on GPO stockWhat mileage should a 1996 LDV Convoy (3.5 tons, Peugeot 2.5 Turbo Diesel Engine, twin back wheels) get?Q) I am disappointed at the fuel consumption of my LDV Convoy 2.5L TD. It gets in the low 20s, max 25 avg on a long run, never high 20s. I expected about 30 dipping to 25 in town.
I have so far flushed & replaced the engine oil, changed the oil filter, fuel filter, & air filter; put Redex & then Injector Protector in the diesel; set the tyres to 55 psi; checked the brakes aren't binding; removed & cleaned all the air intake pipes.
Jobs still to do - check the thermostat (temp gauge stays around the 1/3 mark); adjust the idle (now around 1000-1100 rpm - should be around 750.
The van always starts on the key, has no smoke, & runs fine, loads of oomph. The only thing is that to get good power on hills I have to avoid flooring the throttle. If the pedal is floored, power drops off badly & I have to change down. Keep the throttle very light, & I get up better in a higher gear.
Does anyone have any idea a) what mpg this vehicle should give & b) any more ideas of how to improve it??
Many thanks!
A) Sounds about right for mpg, it's a hefty old lump, far from aerodynamic. However I suspect you might have turbo problems. First place to check would be all the piping and trunking associated with the turbo.can some one help i have a 1996 ldv pilot and i have had the clutch replased 5 times in a year?Q) they dont wear out they brake up they just dont seam man enough ive tride using a ldv cluch
A) Try getting flywheel skimmed to make sure flat as when clutch material heats up and eventually breaks up,some of the metallic content of the drive plate welds to flywheel making it like a wavy washer. Also check that input shaft of gearbox is not bent from gorilla changing clutch first time round as this makes the clutch try to orbit between flywheel & cover generating heat which will cause premature failure.what is the minimum thickness for front brake discs on 2001 LDV Convoy 400 LWB?Q) Make: LDV
Model: 400 Convoy D LWB
Year: 2001
Engine: 2500cc non turbo
A) 5mm front
6mm reardoes anyone know what vehicle the vented disc brakes on my LDV Convoy are off?Q) I am wondering if any one knows if the LDV Convoy front breaks are from another manufacturer as I am having trouble finding a pair of vented brake discs and wondered if they used other manufacturers brake parts ie are the from a Ford Transit
Many Thanks Roger
A) Hi Roger, find an LDV agent they will get all the parts and they are frequently cheaper than the source vehicle. Ie clutch cylinder often land rover roughly half price.
Headlamps ditto,
The rear wheel bearings were DELIBERATELY made with a 10mm thicker inner track to prevent using aircraft grade bearings. So you may encounter that situation also

and you get free parking in Westminster too.
or get loan for a Modec van, should pay back in reduced running costs
http://www.electruc.com/?gclid=COzoluDKvY4CFRQ9EAod4Rk2yANissan LDV 2.5 diesel engine running on Sunflower OIL?Q) CAN I RUN THIS ENGINE ON SUNFLOWER OIL, ALSO WOULD SECOND HAND OIL FROM A TAKE AWAY BE USED, IF FILTERED TO REMOVE ANY SEDIMENT. CAN THE OIL BE USED PURE OR SHOULD IT BE MIXED WITH DIESEL, THIS ENGINE IS NATURAL, NO TURBO.
A) Almost any oil will run in a Diesel. Many say to use a Double Filter on the car when burning used oil such as Cooking Oils used in frying. If, I used oil from a fast food, I would pick and allow to settle and siphon off through a Strainer. Most of the stuff should settle to the bottom. Maybe after straining then siphon/strain through some type of filter and then it be ready for the Car.
Some people feel it is better to do a Oil/Diesel mix for better Starting and Performance. If, I did a mix, I would go for more used oil to Diesel Ratio. Try to cut costs as much as possible. You could experiment. After 3-4 tanks you may know a good mix. 80/20; 70/30; 60/40; 50/50. If at first the 80/20 is a crap mix you can add more Diesel to correct. In experimenting I would only fill 1/2 to 3/4 Tank so there room to work adding Diesel if you need.
The last Concept is to use Straight Diesel to Start the engine and then Switch to Straight Oil once running. This would require a small starting tank with extra pump setup like the regular fuel tank.
Filters may be an important part as clogged injectors will offset any savings you would have seen.what are the cylinder head bolt torq settings and tappit clearences on ford transit 2.5 diesel in an ldv 400?Q)
ldv convoy van r. reg 96? with 2.5 transit diesel no turbo.
A) if cant afford a good manual which ck. first to make sure it covers this then go to public library and get manual or print out on computer what you need on printer.do the torque npattern w/torque wrench as this is crucial so you want warp head or blow head gasket. fairly easy,,just follow directions. good luck and dont be afraid to go to maint. dept. at dealer of your make or mo0del motor,,not auto parts personnell most just hired off street. youd be surprised how eager a good dealership will help-. they want your business for next car purchase. good luck,,youll do fine...
