Nissan dealers service or kwitfit?

Q) I have booked a service to my little Micro with Nissan's dealer and they are charging 300 pounds, When i was asking Kwitfit- they only quoted 140 pounds for the same full service. Do you know if Kwitfit is any good? Or should I stick with Nissan 's dealer?

A) Forget the dealer, kwikfit will do the job to the same or better standard as the dealer at a much lower cost. Don't worry about the warranty if it is still current as under the new legislation even with out having the car serviced at a no dealer garage, as long as the standard is the same the warranty will still be in place.

Nissan dealership who do I complain to?

Q) Does any one know the address and even better the top person (man) in charge of Nissan dealerships in the UK? I want to vent my spleen about a particula Nissan Dealer, most likely get me no where but might make me feel better?

A) Nissan President and Chief Executive Officer is Carlos Ghosn John French is vice president of global sales and financeHeadquarters 17-1, Ginza 6-chome, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 104-8023 Japan TEL.03-3543-5523 Registered Head Office 2, Takara-cho, Kanagawa-ku, Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa 220-8623 Japan

Nissan Micra 54 Reg?

Q) I have a nissan Micra 54 Reg new shape, I have recently experienced problems with the timing chain, has anyone else experienced problems with this on thier Nissan Micras? and if so what sort of millaege did the problems occur??

A) If the oil is not changed at the correct intervals using a good quality 10w40 semi synth oil and a genuine filter then yes you will have problems with the timing chain. Nissan say it is caused by acidic oil which causes the chain to wear very quickly. When I first dealt with this problem I was shocked to find so much wear in a chain and almost every other day as a dealer we see it happen. I took the engine out the first time i replaced a chain but I now do them in place. Your car being a 54 should be still under warranty unless you have covered more than 60k miles and even then I would ask your dealer to contact customer services for goodwill to replace your chain, as long as you can prove the services were carried out at the specific intervals ie service book and receipts. Good luck

1993 Nissan Maxima?

Q) Any Nissan experts out there that can tell me anything different about this car (1993) compared to 1992 and 1994? I have heard this car had a different engine, and Nissan quit making it in 1994 because of cost. Any info? I know previously on here I had talked with people that were certified as Nissan mechanics. Artsy, that's what I've heard, I've heard it's actually better then the engines they put out today in their Maximas and other models. Thanks, great answer......

A) In 1992 and 1993 i believe Nissan offered a single overhead cam 3.0 liter engine that made 160 hp in the GXE, and also made a DOHC 3.0 liter (twin cam) that made 190 hp in the Maxima SE. If the faces on your guages are white it's the DOHC SE version. Black guages on the dash it's a GXE. The SOHC had a timing belt that should be changed every 60-80,000 miles, while the twin cam has a chain. I have seen several Maximas from this era over 300,000 miles on the odo. Dozens over 200,000, including my son's 1992 GXE. Nissan used the VG30E and DE engines in Maximas, 300ZX, and Pathfinder for many years. Many believe it the best of all among Nissan's many superior engines.

2003 Nissan patrol diesel,it keeps losing power and engine malfunction light comes on any ideas??

Q) (nissan patrol 3.0l dci 2003 reg) It loses power around 60mph in 5thgear but malfunction light somtimes comes on at lower speeds, low and high revs. does anyone have a idea what it could be?? iv had a new fuel pump diesel filter and injecters checked under waranty at nissan but to be honest they are pretty useles and just wanted some info befor i went back to complain. cheers

A) Hi This could be an overboost or an underboost problem amongst other things. You should really have the fault codes read out as this will shine some light on the situation. You can mail me the codes and I'll help you out, but until then you could check for holes and leaks in all the pipework and hoses associated with the turbo for starters. Cheers Geordie

how to replace Nissan car's audio system which has anti theft security system tagged onto it..?

Q) my nissan primera 1998 car's audio system (casette player/ radio) is playing up and am looking to either mend or replace it... if mending it is not going to be worth it (my local nissan garage quoted a rather phonemenal price of 650 pounds to replace it!!!) do i have the option of getting a new one installed in, say, at halfords.... what happens to the antitheft tagging? can people at halfords fix this? or can it only be done at nissan's? advice me please...

A) yes they can change both at any time .

What exhaust system fits a Nissan S-Cargo?

Q) I've got a 1989 Japanese import Nissan S-Cargo and need a middle & rear section exhaust. I understand it's based on a Nissan Sunny or Nissan Prairie but which model? Any info, or part numbers (preferably) would be really useful. Nissan can genuine parts from Japan but they're horendously expensive & I'm sure ATS or some-one could do better if I know what I'm asking for!

A) contact S.E.S.exhausts they are very knowledgeable and should sort you out at a fraction of the price of the main dealer

We do however, have a few shipping connections that we can put you in contact with to get an accurate quote. WHAT IS A BUY BACK? A BUY BACK IS A VEHICLE THAT WAS REPURCHASED BY THE MANUFACTURER DUE TO NON CONFORMITY ISSUES. MEANING THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER COULD NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE FIXED TO THEIR SATISFACTION OR MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS. FURTHERMORE, THERE ARE TWO STATES IN THE UNION THAT HAVE VERY STRICT BUY BACK LAWS, OR MORE COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS STATE DEFINED LEMON LAW RULES. IN THESE STATES, IF THE “ORIGINAL OWNER” HAS A VALID COMPLAINT ABOUT THE VEHICLES PERFORMANCE, AND THE MANUFACTURER/ DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIX THE ISSUE TO THE CUSTOMERS SATISFACTION OR MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS. THE MANUFACTURER MUST REPURCHASE THE VEHICLE FROM THE CUSTOMER. THERE ARE TWO VERY INTERESTING ASPECTS CONCERNING THE BUY BACK. FIRST OF ALL, CALIFORNIA AND TEXAS ARE THE TOUGHEST. SO IF THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED IN LETS SAY MICHIGAN. THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION WOULD PROBABLY NEVER BE REPURCHASED. SECONDLY, MOST ALL BUY BACK NONCONFORMITY ISSUES, LATER BECOME FACTORY RECALLS. FOR EXAMPLE, THE MAJORITY OF NISSAN TITANS AND ARMADAS HAD ISSUES WITH THE FRONT BRAKES VIBRATING UNDER BRAKING. NISSAN FOUND THIS TO BE A PROBLEM ATTRIBUTED TO THE MATERIAL USED IN THE BRAKE PADS. SO THEY IN TURN REVAMPED THE FRONT BRAKES AND FIXED THE PROBLEM. THEY LATER DUBBED THIS ISSUE “BRAKE JUDDER” AND IT OF COURSE, BECAME A FACTORY RECALL. SO TO SUM UP, IF YOU OWNED A VEHICLE IN CALIFORNIA OR TEXAS PRIOR TO THIS ISSUE BECOMING A FACTORY RECALL, THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT BACK. HOWEVER, IF YOU BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AFTER IT WAS ANNOUNCED AS A RECALL, STATE ENFORCED LEMON LAW WOULD NOT PROVIDE YOU WITH THE SAME STRENGTH FOR ARBITRATION. SIMPLY BASED UPON THE FACT THAT A REMEDY WAS AVAILABLE, AND A REOCCURRING ISSUE WOULD PROBABLY OF NEVER TAKEN PLACE. ALL THIS MEANS, IS THAT WE THE DEALER CAN PROVIDE A GREAT PRODUCT TO OUR CUSTOMERS AT HUGE SAVINGS. FURTHERMORE, YOU ARE COVERED BY THE FACTORY WARRANTY, AND GIVEN AN ADDITIONAL BUY BACK WARRANTY FROM THE MANUFACTURER FOR FURTHER REASSURANCE. LASTLY, THE TITLE ON THE VEHICLE IS CLEAN AND NON-BRANDED. IT IS A WIN, WIN SITUATION FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED.

A) Call a Nissan dealer to verify their story, if everything checks out, buy the truck if you want it. I personally believe that your money is better spent on a smaller crossover vehicle or a sporty wagon both of which should include 6+ airbags.

2004 Nissan Maxima front end shimmy / Lemon Law Claims?

Q) This question and post applies to anyone who either owns or has driven a 2004 or newer Nissan Maxima with similar problems as I've reported: Has anyone experienced a front end shimmy in a 2004 or newer Nissan Maxima? I have put my 2004 Nissan Maxima in the shop numerous times for the front end shimmy and its one thing after another, as far as excuses and repairs go. New Tires, Struts, Rims, Bearings, still there is a shimmy. I am currently suing the dealership and Nissan Corp. for failure to repair, dealer fraud, deception, and am also pursuing a class action suit against Nissan due to several other reported cases of this exact problem. Have any owners gone through with a Lemon Law Suit or a Magnusson Moss Warranty Protection Act claim? Has anyone dealt with such/similar issues? I have replaced the tires 3 times in 9 months. I've had the struts replaced, new brakes, replaced slightly bent rim. The car has been in for repair 5 times, same problem. The steering wheel shakes violently, at times it gives me a headache. I have done some investigating and the dealership knew of the problem at the time of sale; previous owners traded the car in for this reason. A salesman informed me it was a tire issue and that it would be fixed. Such detailed findings lead me to the filing of a consumer fraud case (deception and fraud). Nissans built within a certain date were poorly engineered, primarily the first breed of 6th gens. Several Lemon Law claims have been filed with this exact this issue. Why should a car owner have to get his/her tires balanced every 4-5k miles? A carl, especially a Certified Pre-Owned $25,000 Nissan should not have these problems, period! By the way, I tried contacting the owner of the dealer on several occasions. He tried to have me trade the vehicle in on another, which I tried to do. When I went to trade the car in, they wanted money saying that the car's trade in value (Galves Value) was less than I owed. At that time, I only owned the car for less than 3 months. Why should I have to take the loss?

A) Before going through all of the trouble, try another dealership and get a second or even third opinion because somewhere down the road someone may ask you if you've done so and it may make your claim seem frivolous because the next course of action when dealing with repeat repairs is to get a second opinion and try to get the cost paid by the first shop. The axles in some of these cars become bent or damaged easily and will cause a shimmy in the wheel that may be hard to detect. It is most common when the axle has been removed in a previous repair (i.e. replacing struts ) and re-installed forcibly / incorrectly. Unfortunately the cv axles are a simple design and can be easily bent or damaged and thus requires replacement. I don't think you will get far with a class action suit because you did not suffer any damages or bodily injury. Only inconvenience. Not being the original owner may make things more difficult.

Why are Nissan drivers jerks??

Q) I'll probably get chewed out in here from Nissan drivers. If you are a nissan driver and is a good driver, props to u. But I find that 85% of the time, Nissan drivers drive erratically, they run red lights, they act like they own the road. And I find that it's either the lowered fixed up Nissan Sentra or Maxima or a beat up one. Or the oversized Armada. I mean, what is it?? Is there something in the car that's making them do this? It's a joke around here in my town, that if you encounter a bad driver, we automatically ask, "Does that person drive a Nissan?" It has become a stereotype here in my town

A) the answer to this is they are popular with the young adults and teenagers. the rest is history

Nissan dealer in slough......unfair practice?

Q) My boyfriend recently brought a new nissan micra from what was dan perkins nissan in slough. He saved up to help buy it as he has a job for which he has to commute. It was rather a special buy for him, never having brought a new car before. At the sale Nissan said he would recieve three years free servicing(one a year) free. This was mentioned several times. I was present at the sale. The paperwork did not mention the servicing and my partner did actually question the garage on why this was and wether he would get the servicing. They promised it was no problem. Now, although he knows he should have demanded it in writing, come his first service the nissan dealer have tried to charge him. The garage has new ownership and the salesman who dealt with my partner has left. They have now said that he can have a reduced rate service of £200 per service. Considering he was promised free servicing at the sale this seems rather unfair. Can anyone tell me what he could do? He feels ripped off.

A) nothing in writing he got screwed sorry

Do you agree with Nissan Computers, or Nissan USA? www.digest.com Nissan Computers had the name first.?

Q) I think Nissan USA should be ashamed of themselves for trying to make Nissan Computers give up the domain name www.nissan.com. I can understand why Nissan Motors wants the name; because it's easier to type in than Nissanusa.com..........but I don't agree with the car company. Your opinions?

A) It's easy for people to opine the Japanese car maker was wrong if they didn't consider any and all available factors, namely: 1. The japanese car maker registered "nissan" as a trademark since 1955, and have been consistently renewing it since then: http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=72053632 2. My recollection on this topic is somewhat hazy, but in the US there's what's called "dilution". You can't use your last name DuPont to sell chemicals or Dell to market your line of computer products. 3. The "last" decision in the nissan.com dispute indicated Mr. Nissan put up a car ad or something in the domain name's website: http://www.citizen.org/documents/CourtofAppealsRulingNissanMotorvNissanComputer.pdf That's one no-no in trademark law, especially in the US. So the Japanese car maker originally had no claims towards the domain name. But they DID make an offer to buy it, which Mr. Nissan refused. Then when the domain name showed a "hint" of commercial use involving cars, that potentially infringed Nissan's (or rather Datsun as they were called) trademark. That gave them the "claim" or "right" to pursue it further because that's what the law allowed. Now based on those 3 details I gave (I apologize if I missed anything), can one still honestly believe Nissan was wrong? But...people will choose to believe whatever they want. So there. :) Edit: responding to lees68tbird's question. I'll put it this way to try to keep things simple: until the registrar receives a court order or an administrative proceeding notice of transfer for the domain name, it will remain with its current registrant. People can believe they have all sorts of rights to something. It's up to them how to demonstrate it based on what the law allows.

2007 nissan altima carpet leaking water driver seat and driver rear seat...?

Q) ok, guys and ladies i already went three nissan dealership.. they still can't find it... The last dealer ship that i went, 1hour and 15 minutes to drive... from my house.... i just waste my gas... still theysame answer i got... And i called 1-800 nissan 1, north america, they still not calling me back....... it's been 3 days now.... i'm really dissapointed in nissan.... this is my last nissan car...

A) Calling Nissan's 800 number is a waste of time, As much as I love Nissans, I HATE having to call them for anything maintenence related. My questions are: Did the dealer try duplicating the condition when you took the vehicle in? Is it only leaking when it rains? Does it do it when you run it through a car wash? has the carpet been wet when you took it to the dealership? Water leaks are one of the hardest things to diagnose in a car, especially in the summer when it tends to dry quickly. I reccomend that the next time it is wet, take it directly to the nearest dealers service department and ask if a certified Nissan technician can come look at the location of the water. I hope you get it figured out soon!

Is Nissan Service screwing people over intentionally?

Q) OK, I know I should've stopped going to them after Nissan screwed up my Nissan once. The first time, I had a '01 Nissan Sentra. I went for a simple oil change.. and they didn't tighten the cap back on tight enough. I did not even realize this until one of my hour drives.. when my car died on me... and my engine also died. So we had to get a new engine and after that, the check engine soon light came on and they keep wanting to charge us more for service. Then, when I got my '01 Nissan Maxima, I had issues with the brakes a year later.. which is generally when brakes need to be changed. Anyway, they changed brakes and the oil and some other things... and it all costed $1,000!!! That's really pricey for brakes. Then my car recently had issues with funny noises.. right after they had supposedly fixed my car. Well now, they want to charge another $935 or maybe even $1,800 if what they replace the first time isn't good enough. Supposedly it is something to do with motor mounts. GAH And also, do motor mounts really cost so much that it's going to cost $935 just to replace it? I feel like they're intentionally doing this so I have to keep going back and shell out money to fix my car! I like Nissan's cars... just not their service.

A) they screwed me too. I will never buy another Nissan again because of the poor service I received. Its is a shame too, I like their cars, but if I cant get it fixed correctly I want no part in dealing with them.

nissan sentra/nissan sunny?

Q) We have a 2005 nissan sentra 1.3 (here in philippines) or nissan sunny (in other countries). We drove it in an expressway. When it reaches 100km/h, it starts to vibrate and stops to vibrate in 110km/h and starts again to vibrate in 120km/h onwards. Could someone tell me the problem?

A) prolly tires...get speed rated tires for the car...H or above.....is the engine cutting out...if so the car has a limiter in it....keeping you from going to fast....
