A) I'm with MoreTh>n. They provide you with an account manager who you can speak to everytime you phone, regardless of query. He knows all your information etc, so you don't have to keep repeating yourself to Daleks.. An added bonus, I find there premiums to be quite competetive. Hope this helps.

A) I work for Aviva - all of the companies they underwrite give you it. e.g NUD, Barclays, Asda, Ford Insure. I think the post office is now underwritten by Norwich union too, so maybe try them. I know Direct line does it as weel cos my dad went with them. What they do is give you 70% ncb and after your 2nd year staying with them they will actually give you the 5 years to take to another company. Its just policy holder and spouce though, no additional drivers. If you dont want overseas call centres best to go with Barclays or ford insure - or direct line. Hope this helps

Q) I need to renew my car insurance policy soon but am going away in June for a year so cannot get a full years policy. My company has told me to take out a years policy then cancel it before i leave in June. E Car Insurance - Anyone know this company? UK?

The quote i got from them seems unbelievable. It is at least £400-£500 cheaper than anyone else i have been quoted from. A) firstly i would check out www.confused.com this website searches for the cheapest quote from all insurers that will insure you and you only have to enter your details once it will save you no end of time i assure you on your second point about the different types of insurance any driver - means exactly that anyone can drive the vehicle as long as they hold a current licence for that class of vehicle usually has to be a fully comprehensive policy (most expensive) and if there are only two other drivers that can sit with him a waste of money named driver- this means that you can nominate one other person to drive the car other than your husband either brother in law or m8 or if you find a good company maybe both i would absoloutely recommend this at minimum as if your husband god forbid took ill or got into difficulty whilst driving the supervising driver will have to take charge of the vehicle otherwise they are stuck where they are third party - this is the lowest and cheapest level of cover it also offers the basic minimum cover allowed by english law all that is insured is whatever your car hits for example another car or person or persons property your vehicle would not be repaired and you would be left with the repair bill for your car if it is written off in other words it would cost more to repair than your car is worth in the insurers opinion you lose everything third party fire and theft - this offers a bit more cover but not much same cover as above regarding third party plus if your vehicle is stolen or set on fire you would receive a payout of the insurances companys estimated value of your vehicle before it was stolen comprehensive- the best level of cover on offer and the one i would recommend this means no matter what your car hits it will be repaired and so will your vehicle too it is also worth considering driver's legal protection most company's offer this now which offer's you protection should anyone try to make a claim against you in court a solicitor would be appointed on your behalf to fight your case an extra charge would apply to your premium but well worth it some company's are offering breakdown cover as well this is also worth considering as you never know when you may need it again an extra charge applies but at least you have peace of mind it is also worth noting that any supervising driver that sits with your husband must be at least 21 years old and have held and still hold a full licence for that catergory of vehicle for three years where do you live iam an approved driving instructor and it would be a pleasure to teach your husband i cover the derbyshire, yorkshire and nottinghamshire areas if you live anywhere near there please feel free to contact me and in either case i wish your husband the very best of luck and please let us know how you get on please check out the following websites for loads of information and tips on learning to drive

US car insurance with a US license but a UK driving record?

Q) Are there any US Car Insurance companies that will take into account my UK driving history when calculating my insurance? I moved to San Francisco from London 5 months ago and have had a Californian license for just 2 months. A) Get a copy of your no claims letter and take it to a GEICO agent. I don't know if there are any in the SF area, but there are a couple around Sacramento. They deal with a lot of GIs in that area and are familiar with UK no-claims letters. If you can get a copy of your record from the DVLA, bring it along unopened.

A) a deductible is not the same as bonus, a deductible is an excess, UK bonus is not recognised by US insurers

A) Not too likely. And it wouldn't cover damages to the car in any case. Your English auto insurance company will not have licence to insure in Canada or the US. Travel Underwriters has an office in London. Ask if they can sell rental car collision damage coverage for the US.

Brother crashed car today! Insurance question for UK drivers?

Q) Well the title is misleading as someone crashed into my brother's car not giving way to traffic on a dual carriageway, and not the other way around. His car is in a really bad state... possibly might be written off. The question is do insurance companies pay out the full amount of money that the car is insured for (after a write off), or do they pay out an amount in consideration of the depreciative value of the car. So my brother insured his vehicle for the amount of money he paid for it a year ago. Will insurance companies pay out that amount or a lower amount if they see the car as worth far less one year on?

A) The insurance companies will try to get away with paying as little as possible, certainly not what the car was originally bought for. The most your brother will get back is the current market value of the car i.e. taking depreciation into consideration. Whatever the first offer is (if it is a write off) from the insurers, don't accept it! The only way to get back the full price for a car after being written off, is by taking out additional GAP Insurance, which pays the difference between what the insurance pays, and what you originally bought the car for.

A) Do you mean just you on a car that no one is insured on? Or a car where you want to be 2nd person insured on? I did it through Direct Line a couple of times as 2nd named driver on my girlfriends policy for one day because she doesn't like driving in London. Also try computer quote (http://www.computerquoteinsurance.com) I know they do pay as you go insurance, but don't know how expensive or their criteria. Good Luck =;-)
